Why don't you take insurance?
I have decided to not accept insurance, after years of doing so, for many reasons. In order to be able to bill your insurance, I would need to provide your insurance with a mental health diagnosis. This diagnosis becomes part of your medical record and some people prefer to not have a diagnosis follow them. In addition, insurance companies put a lot of requirements on therapists that I feel can take away from the therapeutic process and the value of therapy.
How long are sessions?
Each session will be 50 minutes and I usually prefer to meet with individuals weekly for at least the first few weeks in order to develop a therapeutic relationship. Once progress is made, the goal is to gradually decrease sessions.
What therapeutic techniques do you utilize?
I incorporate Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy and Mindfulness into my practice. I tailor my practice to meet the needs of each individual.
